The Non-Profit Leadership Institute at Francis Marion University |
General Information |
The Non-Profit Leadership Institute at Francis Marion University was established to provide leadership training to strengthen non-profit organizations across the state. Funded initially with multi-year grants from the Drs. Bruce and Lee Foundation, the Institute now receives major support from FMU, along with a grant from the PSARAS Foundation. Committed to making long-term differences in the lives of the people they serve, non-profit organizations assist with various needs, but do not have access to the resources they require to make their job easier. The goal of this program is to provide a higher level of professional skills for the non-profit sector and a greater coordination of efforts to serve the people of the state. It is our hope that the institute will become a model for other areas of the state, and the nation, to look at how teamwork can benefit all sectors. Experts from the public, private, and non-profit sectors across the country will address the institute on various topics to provide the latest thinking in the non-profit sector. Also, there will be valuable networking opportunities among the participants. Topics will include: ▪ leadership; ▪ program development and delivery; ▪ human resource development, including board members and volunteers; ▪ effective financial resource development and management; ▪ programmatic and organizational issues related to data collection and reporting; ▪ visibility, including managing external relations; and ▪ case studies. |
